Retropharyngeal internal carotid artery: a review of three cases
Abstract Introduction The internal carotid artery (ICA) can take multiple pathways as it extends from the carotid bifurcation to the skull base. An aberration of its normal pathway may place the ICA in a retropharyngeal position in close proximity to the posterior pharyngeal wall. Radiographic classification is based on its proximity to the pharynx and/or pathway. We present a series of three cases of retropharyngeal...

Altered Expression of Three EGFR Posttranslational Regulators MDGI, MIG6, and EIG121 in Invasive Breast Carcinomas
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signalling is a highly regulated process with a tight balance between receptor activation and inactivation in invasive breast carcinomas (IBCs) particularly in triple-negative carcinomas (TNC). Clinical trials using anti-EGFR therapies are actually performed although no activating alterations (mutations, amplifications, or rearrangements) of EGFR have been clearly recognized in order to identify new targeted modalities for IBCs. We explored mammary-derived...

Integrating Pharmacology and Microbial Network Analysis with Experimental Validation to Reveal the Mechanism of Composite Sophora Colon-Soluble Capsule against Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative colitis (UC) has multifactorial pathogenesis that acts synergistically, such as immune system dysregulation and expansion of infectious gut microbiota. Therefore, a multicomponent treatment derived from Chinese herbal medicine that interacts with multiple targets synergistically is needed. Composite sophora colon-soluble capsule (CSCC) is a Chinese herbal formula that has shown therapeutic efficacy against UC in randomized clinical trials. However, its bioactive components and potential...

Plastrum Testudinis Extracts Promote NSC Differentiation into Dopaminergic Neuron by Regulating the Interaction of TET1 and FoxA2
In recent years, stem cells have gained much attention for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. However, inducing neural stem cell directionally differentiation is a difficult problem in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) by stem cell therapy. Plastrum Testudinis (PT) can enhance the number of TH-positive neurons in the PD rat brain substantia nigra, but the underlying mechanism has not been clarified. Here, we aimed at further investigating the mechanism by which PT can promote NSC...

Theoretical Investigation of Nonlinear Time-Dependent Behavior of Two-Way High-Strength Concrete Walls
High-strength concrete (HSC) walls have been increasingly used in the past decades. However, the time-dependent behavior of HSC wall panels in two-way action was not investigated, and the time effect of creep is not included in the design codes in most countries. For this purpose, the nonlinear long-term behavior of two-way HSC wall is investigated in this paper. A theoretical model is developed using time-stepping analysis considering geometric nonlinearity and creep of concrete. A rheological material...

Enhanced Characteristic Vibration Signal Detection of Generator Based on Time-Wavelet Energy Spectrum and Multipoint Optimal Minimum Entropy Deconvolution Adjusted Method
To overcome the shortage of low SNR (signal to noise ratio) of the multipole generator vibration signal which brings rigid difficulty to the fault diagnosis, a new method which combines the Time-Wavelet Energy Spectrum (TWES) with the Multipoint Optimal Minimum Entropy Deconvolution Adjusted (MOMEDA) algorithm is proposed. This method uses TWES to extract and enhance the characteristic signal, while employing MOMEDA to optimize the spectrum structure and filter the noise. The application of this...

Characterization of Nonstationary Phase Noise Using the Wigner–Ville Distribution
Oscillators and atomic clocks, as well as lasers and masers, are affected by physical mechanisms causing amplitude fluctuations, phase noise, and frequency instabilities. The physical properties of the elements composing the oscillator as well as external environmental conditions play a role in the coherence of the oscillatory signal produced by the device. Such instabilities demonstrate frequency drifts, modulation, and spectrum broadening and are observed to be nonstationary processes in nature....

A more comprehensive understanding of the complexity of pancreatic cancer pathobiology, especially, and understanding of the role of the tumor microenvironment (TME) in disease progression should pave the way for therapies to improve patient response rates. Previous studies reported that caveolin-1 (Cav-1) has both tumor-promoting and tumor-suppressive functions. However, the function of Cav-1 in the pancreatic cancer microenvironment remains largely unexplored. Here, we show that coinjection of...

However, despite the wealth of evidence and guideline recommendations, its use in clinical practice remains minimal. Patient and technical limitations of FFR as well as the need for intracoronary instrumentation, use of adenosine, and increased costs...
