Tips to start an MR-US fusion biopsy program
Abstract There is growing evidence that MRI-ultrasound (MR-US)-targeted biopsy (TB) has high detection rates of clinically significant prostate cancer (PCa) compared to standard transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided biopsy. A radiologist plays a significant role in MR-US fusion biopsy planning. Here, we discuss six simple steps that can help set up a successful MR-US fusion biopsy program in collaboration with the urologist.

Portosystemic shunt surgery in the era of TIPS: imaging-based planning of the surgical approach
Abstract Purpose With the spread of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), portosystemic shunt surgery (PSSS) has decreased and leaves more complex patients with great demands for accurate preoperative planning. The aim was to evaluate the role of imaging for predicting the most suitable PSSS approach. Material and methods Forty-four patients...

Rituximab for High-Risk, Mature B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in Children
Cure rates among children and adolescents with high-grade, mature B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (mainly Burkitt’s lymphoma but also diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) have dramatically improved over the past 30 years, with trials showing survival of approximately 90%. However, well-known prognostic…

Electrophysiological significance of the inter‐atrial conduction including cavotricuspid isthmus during atrial fibrillation
Key points The interatrial conduction, including Bachmann's bundle, the posterior septal conduction, the anterior septal conduction, and the cavo‐tricuspid isthmus, contributes to the maintenance mechanisms of atrial fibrillation in a 3D‐biatrial model. The interatrial conduction ablation including a cavo‐tricuspid isthmus ablation significantly affects the wave dynamics of atrial fibrillation (AF) and facilitates the AF termination or atrial tachycardia conversion of the AF after the circumferential...

E‐cigarettes and respiratory health: the latest evidence
Abstract The E‐cigarette market continues to expand at an alarming rate with thousands of flavours available for purchase and continuously evolving devices. Now a multi‐billion dollar industry and one without stringent regulation, there is rising concern over the safety of vaping products. Since June 2019, over 2800 cases of E‐cigarette associated acute lung toxicity have been reported in the USA, over 60 of which resulted in death. Many argue that E‐cigarettes offer a safer alternative to smoking,...

CircLPAR3 sponges miR‐198 to facilitate esophageal cancer migration, invasion and metastasis
Abstract In this study, we explored expression and functions of circular RNA LPAR3 (circLPAR3) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The differential expression of circRNAs in 10 ESCC and corresponding para‐carcinoma tissues was analyzed through circRNA microarray, then the candidate circRNAs were detected and verified through qRT‐PCR, and a novel circRNA was screened, which was circLPAR3. CircLPAR3 showed apparently high expression in ESCC tissues and cells, which was closely correlated...

Expression of classical HLA class I antigens, HLA‐E, and HLA‐G is adversely prognostic in pancreatic cancer patients
Abstract The expression of classical HLA class I antigens (HLA‐I) on the surfaces of cancer cells allows cytotoxic T cells to recognize and eliminate these cells. Reduction or loss of HLA‐I is a mechanism of escape from antitumor immunity. The present study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological impacts of HLA‐I and non‐classical HLA‐I antigens expressed on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells. We performed immunohistochemistry to detect expression of HLA‐I antigens in PDAC using...

Association of gBRCA1/2 mutation locations with ovarian cancer risk in Japanese patients from the CHARLOTTE study
Abstract Whether germline (g) breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA ) mutations are located within or outside the ovarian cancer cluster region (OCCR; 1380–4062 bp for gBRCA1 , and between 3249–5681 bp and 6645–7471 bp for gBRCA2 ) may influence risk variations for ovarian cancers. This ad hoc analysis of the CHARLOTTE epidemiological study in Japan assessed the distribution of gBRCA1/2 mutations in patients with newly diagnosed ovarian cancer, and investigated an association between gBRCA1/2...

Polyethylene glycol derivative 9bw suppresses growth of neuroblastoma cells by inhibiting oxidative phosphorylation
Abstract Neuroblastoma (NB) is a childhood malignancy originating from the sympathetic nervous system, which accounts for approximately 15% of all pediatric cancer‐related deaths. As the 5‐year survival rate of patients with high‐risk NB is < 50%, novel therapeutic strategies for NB patients are urgently required. Nonaethylene glycol mono (‘4‐iodo‐4‐biphenyl) ester (9bw) is a polyethylene glycol derivative, synthesized by modifying a compound originally extracted from filamentous bacteria. Although...

Early phase II study of mixed 19‐peptide vaccine monotherapy for refractory triple‐negative breast cancers
Abstract We conducted an early phase II study of mixed 19‐peptide cancer vaccine monotherapy for 14 advanced metastatic triple‐negative breast cancer (mTNBC) patients refractory to systemic chemotherapy to develop a new type of cancer vaccine. The treatment protocol consisted of a weekly vaccination for 6 weeks, and there were no severe adverse events related to the vaccination throughout the trial. Increase of peptide‐specific immunoglobulin G against the vaccinated human leukocyte antigen (HLA)‐matched...

Factors Associated With Health-Related Quality of Life in Patients With Facial Palsy—Reply
In Reply Lin and Sol refer to some limitations in our study. First we fully agree that the study, as every study, has its limitations. They assume that facial palsy may influence socioeconomic status and therefore health-related quality of life (HRQoL). We performed additional univariate analyses to explore this assumption. We found no significant associations between facial palsy severity (Sunnybrook score) and socioeconomic status operationalized as income, occupational status, and education. In...

To the Editor Bruins et al performed a cross-sectional analysis of a sample of patients with facial palsy who had undergone surgery to ascertain the association between socioeconomic and personality factors with health-related quality-of-life (HRQoL). The authors reported that age, bilateral facial palsy, severity of facial palsy, mental distress, and personality traits were associated with HRQoL in patients with long-standing facial palsy.
