The catalytically defective receptor protein tyrosine kinase EphA10 promotes tumorigenesis in pancreatic cancer cells
Abstract EphA10 (erythropoietin‐producing hepatocellular carcinoma receptor A10) is a catalytically defective receptor protein tyrosine kinase in the ephrin receptor family. Although EphA10 is involved in the malignancy of some types of cancer, its role as an oncogene has not been extensively studied. Here, we investigated the influence of EphA10 on the tumorigenic potential of pancreatic cancer cells. Analysis of expression profiles from The Cancer Genome Atlas confirmed that EphA10 was elevated...

Infectious disease surveillance system descriptors: proposal for a comprehensive set
To tailor a surveillance system to its objectives and to evaluate its fitness for purpose, an accurate description of its structural elements is essential. Existing recommendations for setting up a system seldom offer a comprehensive list of all surveillance elements to be considered. Moreover, there is sometimes confusion in the way terms describing these elements are interpreted. The objective of this paper is to propose a comprehensive set of surveillance system descriptors that can delineate...

The roles of PAD2‐ and PAD4‐mediated protein citrullination catalysis in cancers
Abstract Peptidylarginine deiminases (PADs) catalyze the conversion of arginine residues to citrulline residues on target proteins in the presence of calcium ions. This elaborate type of posttranslational modification (PTM) is termed citrullination. PADs may regulate gene transcriptional activity via histone citrullination. There has been an increasing appreciation for the roles of PADs in a wide variety of biological processes. In this review article, we summarize recent evidence indicating that...

Health-related quality of life after accelerated breast irradiation in five fractions: a comparison with fifteen fractions
The standard treatment of breast cancer includes a combination of treatment modalities, such as surgery, radiotherapy (RT), chemotherapy and endocrine therapy. RT is administered after breast conserving surgery (BCS) to reduce the risk of locoregional recurrences and improve overall survival[1–3]. However, RT can cause acute and late toxicity, resulting in a negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL)[4–7]. Breast pain after RT has an important impact on different items of HRQoL[8].
