Clarifying radiology’s role in safety events: a 5-year retrospective common cause analysis of safety events at a pediatric hospital
Abstract Background Common cause analysis of hospital safety events that involve radiology can identify opportunities to improve quality of care and patient safety. Objective To study the most frequent system failures as well as key activities and processes identified in safety events in an academic children’s hospital that underwent root cause analysis...

Along for the Ride: Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma with Concomitant LECT2 Amyloidosis
We present a case of a 69-year-old Hispanic male with a past medical history of type II diabetes mellitus who presented with a two-month history of abdominal pain. A CT scan was performed which identified a liver mass. Biopsy of the liver mass revealed infiltration of normal liver parenchyma by atypical glands surrounded by pale eosinophilic material. The atypical glands were positive for CK7, while negative for CK20, CDX-2, and TTF-1, consistent with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. A Congo red...

The Role of Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Ranibizumab-Treated Choroidal Neovascularization in Choroidal Osteoma
In this study, we report the initial evaluation of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to choroidal osteoma and subsequent response to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment monitored with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A). A 38-year-old female presented with an initial visual acuity of 20/150 in the left eye. Clinical examination revealed a choroidal osteoma. OCT demonstrated both subretinal and intraretinal fluid. OCT-A was performed and showed CNV....

The MRI colonic function test: Reproducibility of the Macrogol stimulus challenge
Colonic water content, volumes, fluid flow and motility all consistently increased above baseline post‐stimulus. The colonic water, volume and flow data had good intra‐subject reproducibility. AC and DC motility were reasonably repeatable at baseline but response to the challenge was variable between visits resulting in a lower intra‐class correlation coefficient. Abstract Background Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the colonic response to a macrogol challenge drink can be used to...

Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder symptoms are frequent in patients presenting for symptoms of gastroparesis
Avoiding foods or restricting intake can be a normative approach to manage symptoms of gastroparesis/functional dyspepsia. However, a subset of patients may have an underlying feeding/eating disorder, or be at risk for developing one. This study showed clinically significant feeding/eating disorder symptoms, particularly symptoms of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), were common among outpatients presenting for gastroparesis/dyspepsia. ARFID is a feeding/eating disorder characterized...

Psychological interventions to improve sleep in college students: A meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
Summary Sleep disturbances and insomnia are common in college students, and reduce their quality of life and academic performance. The aim of this meta‐analysis was to evaluate the efficacy of psychological interventions aimed at improving sleep in college students. A meta‐analysis was conducted with 10 randomized controlled trials with passive control conditions (N  = 2,408). The overall mean effect size (Hedges’ g ) of all sleep‐related outcomes within each trial was moderate to large (g =  0.61;...

Distinct electrophysiological correlates between expected reward and risk processing
Abstract Expected reward and risk (reward variance) are two fundamental parameters in decision making, which may be encoded by distinct functional brain networks during the anticipatory phase of reward processing. However, whether and how anticipatory reward and risk processing are dissociable in terms of temporal dynamics remain ambiguous. The current event‐related potential (ERP) study addressed this issue in a card‐guessing task where participants were presented sequentially two cards from a...

Hypertrophic Scar Improvement by Early Intervention With Ablative Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment
Background and Objectives Ablative fractional laser treatment has been used to improve the color and texture of hypertrophic scars with safe and effective results. However, no consensus on the optimal time to initiate fractional laser treatment is available. The effect on early‐stage scars remains controversial. This study was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of ablative fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatments for hypertrophic burn scars and to analyze the efficacy and safety...
